Aging is associated with general improvements in mental health, but also with mental health challenges. The goal of our lab is to understand how well-being changes in later life, and also to explore ways of helping older adults cope with age-related mental health problems.

Research

Using both primary quantitative and qualitative methods, and secondary analyses of national population surveys, research in his lab aims to: (a) understand how age affects mental health, (b) enhance older adults’ access to mental health services, and (c) help individuals cope with stress when caring for older adults with dementia.
